1.  Download and install InqScribe
     
    1. Go to inqscribe.com
      • The InqScribe homepage will appear
    2. Click on Download
      • Find Download in the upper right corner of the page
      • The "Download" page will appear
    3. Click on Free Download
      • Find Free Download to the right in blue
      • A pop-up window will appear
    4. Click on click here
      • The file will begin downloading
    5. Save the install file
      • Note: this step depends on your operating system
    6. Open the file
      • Note: this step depends on your operating system
    7. Install the software
      • Note: this step depends on your operating system

     

    1. See your department for license details; if you are using InqScribe independently, you must purchase a license through the InqScribe website
  2.  Change the default font to one with Tibetan characters
     
    1.  Open InqScribe
    2. Click on Transcript
      • Find Transcript in the menu bar
      • A menu will unfold
    3. Click on Transcript Settings
      • A pop-up box will appear
    4. Click on the box next to "Font" 
      • A list of fonts will appear
    5. Choose the font that includes characters in your chosen language
    6. Change the size of the font if necessary
      • Note: for the Tibetan Jolmolhari-ID Unicode Font, choose size 21 or larger
    7. Click OK
      • The pop-up window will close
      • The font will change
  3.  Create a new project
     
    1. Open InqScribe
    2. Click on File
      • A drop-down menu will unfold
    3. Click on New Document with Media File
      • A file browser will open
      • Note: the file browser varies based on your operating system
    4. Open the file you want to transcribe
      • The media will appear on the left side of the screen
      • A blank box to type your transcription will be available on the right
     Transcribe your media file
     
    1. Create a new project 
    2. Import your media source
      • Find import instructions in the grey box to the left 
    3. Enter the first timecode of the first transcript text
      • See timecode for more information
      • Write timecodes in a [00:00:00.00] format 
      • The timecode will turn blue
    4. Type in the name of the person who is speaking, followed by a colon
      • For example: "Speaker 1:"
    5. Type in the contents of your transcript 
      • This can be on a new line, or on the same line as the timecode
    6. Enter the timecode at which the transcribed text ends 
      • Write timecodes in a [00:00:00.00] format 
      • The timecode will turn blue
    7. If two people are speaking at the same time: 
      1. Make an entry for the first speaker
      2. Make an entry for the second speaker with the same timecode
      • For example: [00:01:11.010] Speaker 1: I am speaking [00:01:45.010]  [00:01:11.010] Speaker 2: I am also speaking [00:01:36.010] 
    8. Continue transcribing in this manner
    9. Click Save
      • Your transcript will save

     

     Add annotations if necessary
     
    1. Transcribe your audio or open an existing project
    2. Type in your annotation anywhere in the transcription text
    3. Enclose the annotation in angle brackets ("<" and ">")
      • For example: <This is an annotation> 
    4. Click Save
      • Your file will save
